Language: perimeter (peri=around; metre = to measure, so to find the perimeter means to measure around. area = amount of surface area.
Suppose you have a strip of wood that is 100 centimetres long, and you want to make a rectangular picture frame using all of your wood.
- What are several different dimensions that are possible for your frame?
- What frame would you make if you wanted to enclose the greatest area? Explain how you decided.
