What's Hapening

Hi everyone,

A quick update for the Bazaar this week ....

The most important one is for everyone to get onto the online Bazaar Rostering system which was sent out via Compass during the week and sign-up to help out at a stall on the day.   Our class is already at 50% (so thankyou to those of you who have already signed-up) and if we are the first to get to 100% the class gets a pizza party!   Only one other class is at the same level as us so let's try and get there first!

The Photo Marathon closes for registration today so if you want to be part of this,  register using the following link - photomarathon.phpsbazaar.org

A reminder the tubs for the  Spinning Wheel Hamper donations are in the class room and our theme for 5/6T is "Hamp it up" so we are looking for donations such as gourmet foods, alcohol tableware and cookware - oils, spices, wines, pasta, condiments, preserves, pasta sauces, chocolate and sweets, serving dishes, cookbooks, tableware, cooking utensils.

Finally,  the Supertreats/unlimited rides forms should have landed at home this week and pre-sales are open until Wednesday 11th November so if you're up for a discount, take advantage of this option!!!  And corflute signs to promote the Bazaar are now available from the office.

Next week ...

More tubs will enter the classroom, this time for donations for drinks to sell on the day.  For our class, we have been asked to donate canned soft drinks, so if you happen to be shopping this long weekend, grab a slab of soft drink in preparation!!

Please come back to me with any questions or contact the committee directly at info@phpsbazaar.org

Thanks again for your support ... Sarah

Bazaar Reminders

Hi everyone,

With only 4 weeks until the Bazaar is upon us, being held on Sunday 15th November (just in case not locked into your memory!), it is time for us all to gear up and help where we can to make the 2015 Bazaar another successful, fun-filled day out for our children, ourselves, family and friends!

You should have received the Bazaar Survival Kit which has key information and dates for how we can support this fabulous event and what you need to know to be ready, but I will keep you updated with friendly reminders as we countdown!

This week ...

A new event being organised by our children, the Photo Marathon, opened for registration.  To register , follow this link - photomarathon.phpsbazaar.org

Tubs have been placed in the classrooms for the Spinning Wheel Hamper donations.  The theme for 5/6T is "Hamp it up" and we are looking for donations such as gourmet foods, alcohol tableware and cookware - oils, spices, wines, pasta, condiments, preserves, pasta sauces, chocolate and sweets, serving dishes, cookbooks, tableware, cooking utensils.   I think if we all make an effort to contribute to this Hamper, it will attract alot of interest and be a fantastic prize for someone on the day!

Next week ...

The online rostering system for stalls and times to help out will go out and my advice to everyone is try and find a friend to man a stall with so you can catch up at the same time, and once you find this friend, get onto this system as first in best dressed!!!  It is really important we all do our bit to help out on the day so please find time to show your support ...

You may also be harrassed by your children next week with the Supertreats/unlimited rides forms landing on your kitchen bench (or maybe check the school bag if you have a forgetful child!)

And finally, next week you can help promote the Bazaar in your area by grabbing Bazaar corflute sign from the office and attach in a prominent place on to your front fence for all to see!

I know this may be the last Bazaar as parents with children at PHPS for some on you, so want to thankyou in advance for you support over the years and hope we can top it off this year with us all doing our bit to make 2015 another great event for our community!

Please come back to me with any questions or contact the committee directly at info@phpsbazaar.org

Have a great weekend, thanks ... Sarah

Learning Experiences

Literacy

In literacy this week the students have been exploring the devices authors use to better engage the reader.  One device is “the gap” when authors choose to omit information as a way of drawing in the reader. We have also focused on the development and use of rich language in narrative writing.  Within spelling the focus has been root words and the origin of meaning.

Enjoy your weekend.
