Learning experiences
In the 5/6 Neighourhood we are exploring
the idea that ‘I am
stronger as part of a collective than I am as an individual.’
The Neighbourhood has started their
Inquiry by:
- Developing a concept of collaboration and
understanding the benefits of working with others.
- Thinking about how communities of expertise collaborate to solve problems.
- Understanding and appreciating ourselves as individuals and valuing the contributions we bring to the group.
The students have been involved in many learning experiences, such as
writing their own Manifesto, presenting important and personal artefacts,
thinking about the groups they belong to, thinking about how they collaborate
with each other and discussing the pros and cons of collaboration.
Within literacy the students have begun exploring the nature of
persuasive texts and how they can express their point of view. In numeracy
the students have been thinking about how they see themselves as mathematicians. They have also begun
to further develop their strategies for solving written problems.
Other highlights thus far have included the commencement of the Little
Devils Circus program and competing or cheering others on at the Swimming
Carnival. The students have also just begun to develop their own Genius
Projects as a way of exploring personal passions and interests.
Stay tuned for more next week.
Have a great weekend.
