What's Happening

In Literacy this week we created graphic overlays to look at the different organisational features of an explanation text and how they function to enhance meaning.

We continued to focus on spelling by investigating how a base word can change when a suffix is added. The students collected, grouped and analysed words and then drew conclusions about different spelling patterns.

We continued our investigation into the Murray-Darling Basin by discussing salinity, water quality and water testing.

The students continue to record unfamiliar words as they appear in different sources and then predict and confirm the meaning. Synonyms are also looked for.

Home Learning suggestion:

-          Start identifying and recording unfamiliar words, wherever they may appear by creating a home vocabulary log.  This could be done digitally.
